Naval Investiture Ceremony 2024

• Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, presented Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards to Naval personnel on behalf of the President of India at an impressive Naval Investiture Ceremony held at INS Hansa, Goa.
• A total of 35 personnel were conferred with various awards during the ceremony, which included Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) to Cdr Manish Singh Karki, Cdr Kaustab Banerjee, Lt Cdr Panneerselvam Vishnu Prasanna and Lt Cdr Bhaskar.
• The CNS Trophy for Best Green Practices 2023 was awarded to Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and INS Valsura in the industrial and non-industrial categories respectively.

 MPATGM Weapon System

• DRDO & Indian Army conducted successful trials of Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) Weapon System, indigenously designed and developed by Defence Research & Development Organisation.

500 sixes in T20s

• Rohit Sharma has become the first Indian to hammer 500 sixes in T20 cricket.

Palak Gulia wins Olympic quota

• Asian Games gold medallist Palak Gulia clinched the 10-metre women’s air pistol Olympic quota with a bronze medal in the final Olympic qualification championship for rifle and pistol in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Challenger title

• Arjun Kadhe and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan clinched Challenger tennis in Mexico.

Asian Badminton Championship

• Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie clinched the men’s Badminton Asia Championship.
• China’s Wang Zhi Yi claimed the women’s singles title.
• The men’s doubles was claimed by China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang.

 Asian Wrestling Championships

• India bagged four medals at the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishek, Kyrgyzstan.
• Anju (53kg) and Harshita (72kg) bagged silver, while Manisha (62kg) and Antim Kundu (65kg) claimed bronze.

 Bundesliga Title

• Bayer Leverkusen clinched their first Bundesliga title.
• The German club secured their first trophy since 1993, breaking an 11-year stranglehold on the league by Bayern Munich.

 Monte Carlo Masters Title

• Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas won his third Monte Carlo Masters title.
