Iraq banned same-sex relationships

  • Iraq’s parliament passed a law criminalising same-sex relationships.
  • The Law bans same-sex relations with a maximum of 15 years in prison, and mandates at least seven years in prison for anybody who promotes homosexuality or prostitution.

Onion Shipment to 6 Countries

  • The Union government has granted permission for shipments of an additional 99,150 tonnes of onion to six countries — Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain and Mauritius.

  • In Archery, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur won gold in the women’s final, beating Italy at the Archery World Cup in Shanghai.
  • Indian men's recurve team of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav defeated Olympic champions South Korea in a historic win to land an Archery World Cup gold medal after 14 years.
