The Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) crisis during the second wave of Covid surge has been precipitated by a shortage of tankers and the daunting logistics of transportation from distant locations. It makes the situation complex.
Companies are lacking in use of Cryogenic Tankers & black marketing of oxygen cylinders also in practice.
LMO or Liquid Medical Oxygen is suitable for human body.
It is also a part of the WHO’s List of Essential Medicines.
India has the Daily Production Capacity of approx. 7100 MT which also includes industrial use.
The domestic Production in April 2021 will cross 9250 MT per day.
CSIR has developed OEU(oxygen enrichment unit) which will help reduce dependency on Oxygen cylinders & Ventilators.
